Frequently Asked Questions
Esentially, different wavelengths of light send various signals to the cells and glands in the skin, stimulating them for different purposes, such as killing bacteria, producing collagen, or boosting lymphatic flow.
Light therapy ignites the body's synthesis of collagen and elastin - both elements that govern overall skin health.
What does the blue light do?
-The short wavelength of blue light (405~420 nm) directs it close to the surface of the skin (unlike red light, which penetrates deeper). It has two key benefits:
*Eradicating the skin of P.acnes acne causing bacteria
*Signaling to the sebaceuous glands to produce less oil.
What does the red light do?
-The longer wavelength of red light (620nm~750nm) penetrates the skin at a deeper level and is used for two main reasons:
*To reduce the density of cytokines, which cause redness and inflammation
*Stimulate collagen and elastin production, promoting skin recovery
What does the amber light do?
-Amber light is known for its soothing effects and is best suited for those that suffer from excess redness, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. The wavelength of amber light is 590~620 nm, placing right in between red light and blue light. Amber light has many benefits, including but not limited to:
*Boosting lymphatic flow to flush waste from the skin
*Increase cellular growth, aiding in cell-turnover
*Reduction of the appearance of dark spots from hyperpigmentation and sun damage
What does Green Light Therapy Do?
Green Light has a wavelength ranging from 520-565nm. Already well known for it's effects on migraines, Green light soothes and calms irritated or over-stimulated skin, targets dark circles, pigmentation, broken blood vessels and sunspots.
What does Cyan Light Therapy Do?
Cyan Light has a wavelength ranging from 500-520nm. Being a combination of the blue and green light therapy, Cyan Light Therapy gives you the best of both worlds for a great effect on general skin irritation, skin metabolism and oil control
What does Purple Light Therapy Do?
Purple Light has a wavelength of 380-400nm. A combination of red and blue light therapy creates Purple Light Therapy, with benefits from both such as improving fine lines, preventing skin sag, and tightening skin to give you a de-aging like effect
What does Lavender Light Therapy Do?
Lavender Light has a wavelength of 400-435nm. Similar to Purple Light Therapy but softer, giving a recovery-like effect, with benefits including the enhancement of cell energy, reducing appearance of acne scars, and being great for wound & post-care healing.
No. Therashield's special LED (Light Emitting Diodes) do not emit any UV rays, making Therashield harmless, gentle and effective on all skin types.
Therashield is not harmful to the eyes, however we do not suggest prolonged usage in one sitting as it can cause eye fatigue.
Although Therashield can be used differently for everyone, we suggest Therashield be used for 15 minutes for two sessions a day, on the color treatment of choice.
Therashield is made with medical grade LED's that are finely tuned to provide the perfect wavelength for each color.
Normally, early results show within the first 1-2 weeks, but as with any skincare, consistent use over time will bring the best results.
Skin cancer is mainly caused by extremely energized UV light rays. Light emitted by LED does not include UV light, and the energy contained within the wavelengths of blue, red, and amber light are minimal in comparison to UV.
